DESCRIPTION: I didn't scan successive layers of the ribbon but it was painted in much the same manner, from light to dark. The first thing I did here was to draw the letters on the central button (slightly offcenter - oops) and then painted around them so they would appear white on the blue satin. Total time spent: 2 hrs max including scanning. Actual size 8 x 8

If I had it to do over ...

I would have used a good quality watercolor paper that would have let me scrub on it more ... I would have done my drawing of the ribbon more carefully so the words were better placed ... I would have taken the time to do an asymmetrical composition.
